Brenda Turner Scholarship
Brenda Turner was a woman who valued love, family, hard work and serving others. Starting her career in cosmetology in 1958, Brenda quickly moved into becoming a cosmetology instructor and then co-owner of Mr. Johns’ Schools of Cosmetology. Over the course of her 40+ years in this business, “Mrs. B” touched the lives of hundreds of students as she shared not only her knowledge of cosmetology, but also her inspiration for how to live life well. She never saw a need without finding a way to meet it.
Brenda served her community as President of the School Board for the Maroa-Forsyth district and in various roles as a member of Maroa United Methodist Church. After retiring, she became the Executive Director of the Macon County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to champion the rights of neglected and abused children. Recipients of this scholarship will be benefiting from Brenda Turner’s legacy of talent, compassion and making the most of every opportunity.
The Brenda Turner Scholarship is a full scholarship for any program offered by Mr John’s’ School of Cosmetology, Esthetics and Nails. Application deadline is April 30th of each calendar year.
