John W. Stubblefield, CEO, is a Past-President of the Illinois Cosmetology Association. He is also an honorary member of Hair Illinois and has served as the Vice-Chairman of the Illinois Cosmetology Council.
A 1959 Graduate of the Decatur School of Beauty, Mr. John, our CEO, has a lengthy and distinguished record of education and community service. “Tough times never last, Tough people do” Rev. Mr. Cuddles is Mr. John’s furry mascot who appears at public events and can be found on Facebook.
During his Jaycee days, he held many offices on local, State Vice President, National Director and Junior Achievement to name a few.
A lifelong member of the Boy Scouts, Mr. John has held every adult Scouting position including President of the Lincoln Trails Council based in Decatur. He received the Silver Beaver award, the Council’s highest honor.
Professionally, Mr. John served in various positions in the Decatur Hairdressers Affiliate. He advanced to the state level and held every state office culminating in receiving the National Cosmetologist Association “State President of the Year” during his term as Illinois State President.
The passage of the “Sunset Act” in 1979 by the Illinois Legislator, opened a very critical opportunity for Mr. John’s leadership. Mr. John invested 4 years of intense lobbying, funding and traveling towards the successful passage of the 1985 Barber, Cosmetology Act. Mr. John represented the Cosmetology Industry at the bill signing by Governor Jim Thompson.

The National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences accredits Mr. John’s and allows access to the U.S Department of Education Title IV Funding Programs. Every 5 years, schools accredited by NACCAS require an onsite team visit. Mr. John has visited over 150 Schools across the United States as a member of the NACCAS visitation team.
Mr. John has held numerous offices in the churches he attended. Currently Mr. John and Kathy attend Heartland Community Church in Decatur and he assists Kathy as Mission Chairman. Heartland has sent numerous mission teams to Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota, East St. Louis and the Inter City Street Dogs in Decatur.
Kathy Stubblefield, 1997 National Cosmetology Teacher of the Year, is a member of the prestigious HAIR AMERICA Committee of the National Cosmetologist Association and a leader on the National Hair Fashion Scene. She is a platform artist for a number of nationally-known manufacturers and is an active member of the Illinois Hair Fashion Committee and the Decatur Hair Fashion Committee.

A lifelong Cosmetologist, Kathy attended beauty school while in High School and received her Cosmetology License in 1974 . In 1980 Kathy followed her true passion to enrich others and received her Cosmetology Teachers License. In 1983 Kathy joined Mr. John’s staff. First she obtained membership in the Illinois Hair Fashion Committee, and in 1993 she was admitted to the National Cosmetologist Associations Prestigious Hair Fashion Committee.
In 1995 she was one of the 4 Hairstylist from the entire United States selected for the National Cosmetologist Association Spring/Summer Design Team. In 1997, the Cosmetology Educators of America honored Kathy with the CIMAGLIA award signifying National Teacher of the Year. Kathy has conducted many Continuing Education Classes for Licensed Cosmetologist through out the years. Kathy has been a driving force in the advancement of Mr. John’s curriculum.
